Tasting Sheet

Chuck Hill, Wines Northwest Review from Wines of the Week, Published June 21, 2017
Pinot Noir and Copper River Salmon

"This rich and complex Pinot Noir is another example of the variety grown on volcanic soils, specifically the red Jory soils of the Dundee Hills. The wine offers aromas and flavors of red and black fruits with toasty and spicy nuances from aging on 40% new French oak. Medium body and earthy minerality pair well with salmon from the grill."
Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromas of pretty black and red fruit and delicate rose petal are just a glimpse into the sensory wonderland of the 2014 De Ponte Pinot Noir. Sweet deep dark red fruit is the core of this beauty with minerality and a palate weight that are a little more substantial than Jory soil tends to express, but still sensual and elegant.
Ratings
93 points Wine Spectator - Red Supple and lithe, with polish to the raspberry-accented cherry, black tea and floral notes, veiled by nubby tannins that let the flavors sing through the long finish. Drink now through 2024.—H.S.
